Vernon photographers capture airshow

Lindsay Wagensveld and Bruce Borrowman spent the weekend shooting the Abbotsford International Airshow

Colourful smoke shows, smiling faces and sun-filled sights were captured by two locals taking part in a photo contest at the Abbotsford International Airshow over the weekend.

Lindsay Wagensveld and Bruce Borrowman spent the weekend shooting the 51st annual airshow, capturing some stunning images from the event.

The two North Okanagan residents are among 73 finalists in the 2013 Amateur Photographer of the Year contest.

The contest, sponsored by London Drugs, Black Press and the Abbotsford International Airshow, saw each of the amateur photographers submit photos from the weekend event.

Prize certificates sponsored by London Drugs will be awarded to the best photographs of the show in the three categories: aircraft in flight or on runway, aircraft/static display and airshow crowd. In addition, all photographs will be posted at http://abbynews.upickem.net/engine/ApprovedSubmissions.aspx?PageType=APPROVED&contestid=101604 where readers will be asked to vote for the People’s Choice Award. Prizes will also be awarded to a random voter and to the People’s Choice award winner.
