Vernon has earned a spot in the top five tastiest flavours from the recent Ice Cream Tour 2015

Vernon has earned a spot in the top five tastiest flavours from the recent Ice Cream Tour 2015.

The tour consisting of father-daughter-duo Richard and Danica Stroobant of Calgary, Alta., recently made headlines as it made its way from Alberta and across southeastern B.C.

“Our delicious journey is over,” said Richard, who traveled more than 1,700 kilometres and visited 20 ice cream shops in seven days.

“Spending time with my awesome daughter, exploring Alberta and B.C., enjoying some great adventures and eating the best ice cream we could find. What a great Daddy-Daughter week!”

Enderby’s D&E Drive Inn, the Log Barn, Vernon’s Marble Slab Creamery and The Garden Ice Cream Parlour were among the stops.

And Vernon’s own Garden Ice Cream Parlour made it into the top five flavour picks.

Danica named the Parlour’s smurf bubblegum as her No. 5 favourite flavour from the tour.

The Oyama Zipline also earned the No. 2 spot in the pair’s list of top five activities.

Kelowna’s Poppadoms also earned several nods: the sea salt caramel and cardamom topped Richard’s list of favourite flavours and it also ranked No. 4 for Danica (who also named Poppadoms’ Strawberry, Honey and Cumin as her second favourite).

But most impressive is the Okanagan restaurant tied for second in the tour’s overall top three ice cream shops.

“Poppadoms in Kelowna for their Indian Spice Cream,” reads the tour results at www.icecreamtour.ca.

“Phenomenal ice cream flavours (and the best butter chicken I’ve ever had). 10 licks out of 10.”

Now that they’ve tasted the best ice cream around, Richard isn’t sure what’s next for their tastebuds.

“Maybe a lobster tour, a poutine tour, a sushi tour or a gelato tour next summer.”
