Vernon woman wins rides

Elise Kruysifix, of Vernon, is now the owner of two 2014 Harley Davidson Sportsters

Since the middle of March, the Kelowna and District Safety Council has been selling tickets on its eighth annual Harley Davidson raffle fundraiser.

On July 1, the winning ticket was drawn and Elise Kruysifix, of Vernon, is now the owner of two 2014 Harley Davidson Sportsters. She also won a learn to ride course from KDSC.

The total prize value was $28,067.

“We called Elise right away and it was a great, fun moment,” said Tania Meyer, executive director.

Kruysifix purchased the winning ticket at KDSC’s volunteer booth outside Princess Auto where she had gone shopping with a friend.

“My friend told me to buy a ticket because I’ve won things before and she wanted me to win the purple bike for her,” said Kruysifix.

The raffle raised about $35,000 for KDSC, which runs many children’s programs throughout the year in Vernon, including babysitter training, home alone, and first aid courses for kids.

KDSC also operates one of B.C.’s largest  motorcycle training programs and a driver training school.
