The Village Green Centre has partnered with the Salvation Army Food Bank, four local grocery stores and participating retailers in Fare Fight for Food to compete against 17 other Bentall Kennedy-managed shopping centres across Canada for a $10,000 grant to be given to the food bank.

Until July 12, people can buy a pre-filled bag of food items at Save On Foods, either Vernon Safeway or Superstore and drop the bag off at the Village Green Centre display in the centre court. People can also vote for their favourite grocery store display at the centre and enter to win a $50 a week Village Green Centre gift card.

The participating malls will compete for funds raised and pounds of food collected.

“The winners will get one of five $10,000 grants to go to their partner food banks. This is an exciting project and the stores have done a great job with their displays,” said Kelly Kedrosky, marketing director, Village Green Centre.

People are also encouraged to support the food bank by entering the online contest for a  chance to win free groceries for a year, a $3,000 value, at http://villagegreencentre.com/.
