The Vernon RCMP volunteers of the Citizens Patrol begin their holiday Lock Out Auto Crime program this week.

In conjunction with the City of Vernon, ICBC and the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP, this program is designed to raise public awareness and reduce crime through education and presence.

The RCMP Citizens Patrol volunteers will be checking vehicles in parking lots throughout Vernon and completing a crime prevention notice identifying key areas where drivers can improve or eliminate the opportunity for a crime to take place.

The Citizens Patrol can be identified by their high-visibility yellow jackets with “RCMP Volunteer” on the back.

Please feel free to ask volunteers about the program.
