Winter paddle hits Kal Lake

Kalavida’s annual Winter Chill Paddle and Social takes place Saturday at Kal Beach.

Kalavida’s annual Winter Chill Paddle and Social takes place Saturday at Kal Beach.

“We have people coming from Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops and around the province, so it’s going to be a blast” said Kevin O’Brien, of Kalavida.

“It’s a chance for friends, staff and keeners to meet up just before Christmas and pass along merry wishes to each other and, of course, to sneak in a short paddle on the lake.”

Doors open at 10 a.m. and the paddle starts at 1 p.m.

Beverages and snacks will be supplied by Triumph Coffee and will be available after the paddle.

“All of Kalavida’s summer rental equipment will be free to rent with a donation to the food bank and will be available as first-come-first-serve,” said O’Brien.

The shop is open from today until Sunday and food donations will also be accepted during those times.
