Pencil artist Sally Tatlow-Kennedy has a way of drawing out the fine details of the animal and still life around her.
Her intricate works are about to be featured for the month of March at Vernon gallery Nadine’s Fine Art and Frames.
“Sally’s pencil drawings are detailed and accurately realistic,” said gallery owner Nadine Wilson. “Her focus moves from inanimate objects to animals and birds. This show is a beautiful collection of exquisite drawings. They are collectible and stunning.”
Tatlow-Kennedy grew up in the countryside surrounded by birds and animals, so they are often her subjects. She enjoyed sketching as a youth but started to take her skills seriously when she illustrated five wilderness travel books, which she co-authored 15 years ago.
Close ups, especially the eyes, capture Tatlow-Kennedy’s interest in her subjects. She also works in watercolour for fine details such as bird feathers, but pencil is her favourite medium.
An open house to meet Tatlow-Kennedy and see her work takes place Saturday, March 4 from 7-9 p.m. Nadine’s is located at 3101 31st Ave., Vernon.
