An athletic and artistic endeavour has been crafted to captivate young and old alike with a colourful production of Grinch.
The Cirque Theatre Company, Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and local talent are teaming up to bring the show to life at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Nov. 29 and 30.
Directed by Olympian Camille Martens, the show is an original production featuring circus arts, drama, dance, music, gymnastics and cirque-like storytelling.
“It’s thrilling to see this show come to life," said Martens. "Our talented, diverse and energetic cast and crew are going to bring holiday magic to you all. The story is heart warming and the show will be a feast for your eyes!”
Evan Johaneson, known as Evan The Juggler, is playing the Grinch.
“Evan was a member of our performance team as child and it’s so fun to have him back with us, now as a seasoned professional. His layered skills and infectious personality bring this character to life in fun new ways," said Martens.
"Dawn Tucker is the narrator and their thoughtfulness and attention to detail combined with their gentle care for the story and project is ideal.
"Rhythmic star Leila Girard will play Cindy Lou; her skills and determination are sure to delight. People will fall in love with these characters and this story."
The story goes: "In Whoville, all Whos are purple, blue and orange. When a new Who baby is born green, fear of the unknown governs actions and end in hurting the young Who for things beyond his control. In his loneliness he grows broken, resentful, bitter and revengeful. It will take bravery, kindness and a special Who to mend this situation!"
The show runs Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2:30 and 7 p.m. Tckets through Ticketseller.ca.
