SMG Endeavors presents Ghostly Hounds and Too Sense Thursday, July 20 at Record City.
Ghostly Hounds combines strings, horns and powerful vocals to create a dark, jazzy sound.
The project features the songs of vocalist and banjo player Francesca Daoust accompanied by Matthew Dorfman on double bass and Suzanne Stirling on trumpet and mandolin. The group is occasionally joined by a string section comprised of Vimul Him on cello and Zafer Zephyr on viola.
“This project has been my entire world for the last couple of years,” Daoust said. “I sing to share my stories, and connect with the people around me.”
Currently based out of Montréal and often on the road, the band members hail from B.C., Ontario, Québec, Boston, and Syria.
Ghostly Hounds self-produced their debut demos in November 2015, only a month after beginning to play together. In the preceding year, the band has toured Canada coast to coast, playing over 70 shows from PEI to Vancouver Island. Ghostly Hounds are presently in the recording stage of their debut full length album, which features 11 original songs written by Daoust and arranged and performed by the band.
Too Sense is a two-piece band from Quesnel. Since forming in the spring of 2015, they have been performing as a house band, performing in public, and developing original songs.
Too Sense’s innovative and unique style blends genres into warm, moving acoustic arrangements, which has grown to be a favorite for all age groups. A dynamic opening act, Too Sense pairs well with a variety of other bands and audiences.
Too Sense plans to release its first EP in 2017. It will feature creative compositions that embody Too Sense’s defining elements of contemplation, relationships, fun, and respect.
