Even super heroes and villains couldn’t compete with COVID.

The likes of Darth Vader and Captain America haven’t been in town for two years since the pandemic started. But they are coming back!

The Vernon Comic Con returns Saturday, May 7 to the Vernon Lodge, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All ages are welcome and admission is just $1.

”Thousands attend this family-friendly event,” organizer Peter Kaz said. “Thousands dress up and geek out over cool collectables and new items.”

Moving to the bigger venue to accommodate even more characters, vendors and fans, Comic Con is the North Okanagan’s own convention for comics, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, literature, artists, movies, cards and so much more.

“People like me can finally unite and get our geek on again,” said Kaz.

Saturday’s activities include Free Comic Book Day at the Ebeneezer’s booth while supplies last, prizes, toys, artists, collectors market, photo ops, games and more.

The 501st Legion will be there at the hotel lobby with their large backdrop for photos (by donation to NOYFSS).

Those dressing in character can show off their costumes at the Cosplay Showcase at 1 p.m.

“This is not a contest, yet a show of appreciation to those that dedicate their time and money to create their perfect replica of their favourite characters,” said Kaz. “We will have a few come on stage that will be interviewed to show the audience the amount of pfft that it takes to be a true Cosplayer.”
