One of the Okanagan’s marquee fundraising events of the summer won’t be starting its engines this year.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 1, the Okanagan Dream Rally announced this year’s event has been cancelled “due to circumstances that are out of our control.”

Every year, the Dream Rally raises money for the KGH Foundation and Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon. Over the five years, the event has happened, more than $3.3 million has been raised.

“After five overwhelmingly successful events with countless lives changed and historic levels of funds raised, we know the impact this event has on our community but more importantly the children and families that it’s dedicated to,” it stated in the post.

The Okanagan Dream Rally plans to be back for 2024 as the organizers are going to make it a biennial event, meaning it takes place every second year.

“The 2024 Okanagan Dream Rally will be hosted next summer and will feature an all-new vision, highlighted by a new route that will fully showcase our beautiful valley,” the post explained.
