If you like that old time rock ‘n’ roll, you may want to head up to the Vernon Jazz Club Saturday.

A group of Kamloops-based blues and rock performers will be tipping their hat to American singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist Bob Seger.

A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, Robert Clark “Bob” Seger has recorded many hits, including Night Moves, Turn the Page, Still the Same, We’ve Got Tonight, Against the Wind, and Like a Rock.

His songs often deal with love, women, and blue-collar themes.

Seger’s iconic recording of Old Time Rock and Roll was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012.

“The Reflections of Bob Seger show is a high-energy rock ‘n’ roll show, which escorts (one) on a journey to memory lane,” said vocalist Sabrina Weeks.

An award-winning singer with blues band Swing Cat Bounce, Weeks is known throughout Canada for her deeply expressive, powerful voice. She brings an extraordinary vocal and emotional range to her music.

Joining her is a stellar lineup of vocalists.

Renea Denis, who is best known as the lead vocalist for Shattered Blue based out of Kamloops, has a “voice so powerful, it literally stops you in your tracks,” wrote Jessica Wallace, for the Kamloops Daily News.

Nicole Clay became known in Vancouver for her beautiful renditions of anthems at sporting events and for her emotional performances. She has also been nominated for a number of CAMEO music awards, including female vocalist and song of the year.

Dave Coalmine is an accomplished rhythm guitar player and veteran vocalist. His original music features heavy influences from the gravel-chewing singers of the ‘90s and a love affair for the acoustic folk pop of the ‘60s.

Mike Hilliard will also be singing a few songs, as well as playing his guitar. He has appeared on stage with some of the biggest names in Canadian music such Colin James, Steppenwolf, Powder Blues, The Guess Who, and Stonebolt and continues to tour throughout B.C. and the rest of Canada.

The rest of the Reflections band features drummer Ed Hilliard, bassist Neil Brun, and pianist Jim Johnson.

Ed Hilliard has performed with famed Canadian producer Jack Richardson (The Guess Who, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger) and has worked with other musicians and artists such as Gary Guthman, The Rankins, and Jack Lavin (Powder Blues).

Brun has played bass with dozens of bands covering a wide range of genres, including jazz, funk, pop, rock and blues. He has also written and performed for screen and theatre productions, including a collection of his original tunes.

Johnson currently is the piano accompanist for two classical music choirs and directs the 65-piece Salmon Arm Community Band. He performs with various bands including The Serious Dogs of Kamloops as well as The Cliffjumpers and Green Room from Salmon Arm.

Reflections of Bob Seger performs at the Vernon Jazz Club (3000-31st St.) Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. cash only bar onsite. Tickets are $20 online at www.vernonjazz.com and at Expressions of Time (2901-30th Ave.), with a $5 rebate at the gig for VJS members.
