One of Canada's most accomplished singer-songwriters is bringing an intimate on stage concert to town.
Ron Sexsmith plays the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. as part of his Sexsmith at Sixty tour, which opens the Spotlight OnStage Concert Series.
A three-time Juno Award winner, Sexsmith has collaborated with industry luminaries like Daniel Lanois and Mitchell Froom. His songwriting graces albums by Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé and more, earning praise from icons including Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. With 15 Juno nominations, including eight for Songwriter of the Year, Sexsmith’s unique blend of pop, contemporary folk and roots-rock has garnered him a dedicated global following, with such widely-acclaimed hits as Secret Heart, Gold in Them Hills and Tomorrow in Her Eyes to name just a few.
“We are thrilled that Ron Sexsmith is performing solo in the intimate OnStage concerts setting,” said the arts centre society's artistic director Erin Kennedy.
His stop in Vernon is part of a B.C. tour before he heads to Ireland and the UK.
Audience members can expect an “up close”, cabaret-style setting for the limited seating show, where Sexsmith will perform songs from his vast 17 album catalogue, including songs from his most recent album The Vivian Line.
