A space dedicated to supporting emerging artists needs some support of its own.
Gallery Vertigo, known as the North Okanagan Artists Alternative, needs to raise money for a space improvement fund.
“Improvements primarily to our washrooms are badly needed,” said Elyse Curial, membership director.
In an effort to raise $15,000, the gallery will host a pre-Halloween fundraiser, Show Off Your SmARTs Trvia Night and Costume Party Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Coldstream Community Hall.
“This will be a fun, fast-paced evening which will consist of an audio/visual presentation of Canadiana and arts related trivia,” said Curial. “The short games will be interspersed with breaks to bid on silent auction items, purchase 50/50 raffle tickets, enjoy drinks, bites, and mingle!”
Gallery Vertigo relies primarily on grants, membership fees and donations to operate.
“We are a registered charity, and our mandate is to support emerging artists by providing studio space, and holding month-long member exhibits twice per year. Additionally we host traveling exhibits, local artists, and each winter, Vernon and area secondary school students display their art in our space.”
Tickets to the event are $40, which includes one free drink and bites, available at Eventbrite.
