For the 11th consecutive year, The Snowed in Comedy Tour is carving out its reputation as a Canadian success story in a market of American comedic giants.

This year it’s even bigger, showcasing four Canadian comedians, in the dead of winter, playing in 65 cities coast-to-coast, including Vernon Feb. 2 and Silver Star Feb. 7.

It’s a showcase of some of the best comedic talent that Canada has to offer. Four very different, very funny performers come together for a fantastic evening of comedy. This year there are new additions to the line-up. Three-time Female Comedian of the Year, Debra DiGiovanni (Video on Trial; Match Game; Debra DiGiovanni: Single, Awkward, Female) joins a leg of the tour, with Flight of the Conchords’ Arj Barker rounding out the rest of the line-up of Snowed in Comedy Tour veterans, five-time Canadian Comedian of the year nominee Pete Zedlacher, Just for Laughs winner Dan Quinn, the $25,000 Great Canadian Laugh off winner Paul Myrehaug, along with special guest appearances.

There’s something for every brand of humour, and everyone will walk away with their own personal favorite. As in years past, the lineup will vary from city to city, so comedy fans are urged to check their local listings.

The comedic crew comes to the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. and there are only a handful of tickets left to the show. Tickets are $45 and available at ticketseller.ca.

DiGiovanni said there are times in her act when she thinks she might be sharing just a little too much about herself.

“I do have moments when I’m like, ‘I shouldn’t be telling these people this, but it just kind of happens,” said the comedienne.

DiGiovanni, who spent most of her life in Toronto but for the last five year has been living in Los Angeles, said her material comes from a personal place, and “whatever’s happening in my life is going to be happening on stage.”

Quinn, Zedlacher and Myrehaug join Erica Sigurdson Feb. 7 at SilverStar Mountain Resort at 8 p.m. in the NATC Auditorium. Sigurdson, from the Debaters, joins the Snowed In Comedy Tour for the first time. For tickets, visit brownpapertickets.com.

Sometimes not taking yourself too seriously pays off. The Snowed in Comedy Tour is proof of that. Quinn wanted to go on a snowboarding vacation with his comedian buddies, but he couldn’t afford to take time off work. He scheduled comedy tour dates strategically around what ski hills he could hit during the day, and paid for his lift tickets and rentals by doing comedy shows at night.
