The race for Vernon-Monashee is expanding.

The NDP will hold a candidate nomination meeting March 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Elks Hall.

“We’ve got two great people throwing their hats in the ring to be our new candidate, Harwinder Sandhu and Barry Dorval,” said Jen Holmwood, NDP media relations director.

Sandhu is a nurse and she has lived in Vernon with her husband and two two children since 2012.

Dorval is a secondary school English teacher and he has lived in Vernon with his wife and two children since 1999.

The NDP candidate will go up against Liberal incumbent Eric Foster, Libertarian Don Jefcoat and Green Keli Westgate in the May provincial election.
