We had to pay a bill to the City of Armstrong on April 24, where we got to see the beautiful new City Hall for the first time.
What an eye opener!
The City Hall is lovely but the parking area leaves a lot to be desired. Both of us have to use walkers and we could not see a handicapped sign anywhere so we parked off the street. By the time the back of our car was opened to unload the walkers, we were on the street. Then we had to climb up the hill to the door. After we arrived, we were told there was a handicapped spot off the street. We informed them that it needs to be on a sign so that it can be easily seen, not on the ground.
From the parking area to the front door, it is all uphill. Certainly not meant for the handicapped.
In speaking to the mayor later, he informed us that this was all built according to provincial standards. Our question is: does the province not care that it is very hard for those with walkers to get to the front door of the Armstrong City Hall to pay a bill?
Happily, we have solved that problem. While paying the bill, we asked if the bill cannot be paid through online banking. The answer was, "Yes you can." We got the information from the receptionist and will not have to visit the Armstrong City Hall again!
