In the March 14 Morning Star, two letters appeared and managed to stir me up to interject a few second opinions into the conversation.
One writer went to great lengths defending taxation as a means to control climate.
There isn't space here to refute all of the outlandish predictions but suffice to say that earth's climate, controlled largely by cloud cover, water vapor and the good old sun, isn't aware that politicians are collecting billions of dollars on climate's behalf.
Perhaps if a bank account were set up in climate's name, the billions arm twisted out of Canadian families accounts could at least be diverted from general revenues and until then we anxiously hope our hard earned dollars aren't bringing on the next ice age.
Our second writer also has great admiration for taxation and shame on you for thinking that the highest inflation rate in modern memory has anything to do with government program spending.
No sir, that huge increase in grocery bills and virtually every other staple is the result of not enough taxation according to our backyard economist.
Apparently the only political party capable of extracting still more out of nasty corporations and wealthy individuals is the very one propping up the federal government responsible for the problem in the first place.
Does it ever seem to you we are living inside a Saturday Night Live skit?
