Bands hit the stage at Longhorn Pub to support Vernon Jubilee Hospital

Rock for Care is the sixth annual event that brings together local bands, all for a good cause

This ain’t your granddaddy’s rock around the clock. This is the sixth annual Rock for Care.

Vernon’s Longhorn Pub presents 12 hours of rock and roll on Sunday.

Hosted by the Wheelhouse Band, non-stop entertainment takes place from noon until midnight.

The event kicks off at noon with the Paddio Daddio’s, followed by Indecision, Margit Sky Band, Chicks 3 and the Zipper, Whiskey Dick, No Fixed Address, Hip Replacements, Steeltoad, Spare Parts, Red Fish, Lefty and closes with Wheelhouse.

“We have a nice mix of rock and roll bands who are donating their time and talents for some great entertainment while supporting our local hospital,” said Eric Juzwishyn, Longhorn Pub co-owner.

Rock for Care will also feature a live and silent auction and T-shirt sales. Some of the auction items include a Budweiser guitar, beer fridge and wine packages.

Since 2009, this event has raised more than $21,000 for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. All proceeds this year go to the cancer centre and digital mammography.

“A lot of work goes into this event and many benefits to health care are the result,” said Sue Beaudry, with the VJH Foundation.
