The music of the Caribbean islands has a way of moving people into a sunny frame of mind.

Vernon’s Chipko Jones, known for its reggae, calypso, and ska sounds, hopes to do just that when the band holds a single release party and vinyl drive for its song, Every Soul Has Fire, to be released on an upcoming vinyl album.

The event takes place at Spinners Sound Centre, Thursday, Jan. 26.

“The show is the first of four single release parties we are having at four different locations,” said the band’s guitarist and lead singer Moot Murphy. “We’re gaining momentum to produce a full vinyl album with the help of Spinners, who are great partners.”

Chipko Jones expects to have an eight-to-10 song album ready by festival season, and for now the band is publicizing each individual song as they come.

“We figure it’s a great excuse to be social and come together over something happy. Entry to the event is free, and we will be selling the digital single as well as our first EP, released last year,” said Murphy. “For anyone who wants to be a generous donor, we are offering all our video and audio content in a USB package.”

Spinners is located at 3107 30th Ave., downtown Vernon. Doors to the show open at 5:30 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m. The event is all ages.
