Wedding bells rang for Jim and Pat Mackie Nov. 4

Couple celebrates 50 years

Jim and Pat Mackie were married on Nov. 4, 1961 in Halifax, N.S. while Jim was in the Royal Canadian Navy.

Jim and Pat Mackie were married on Nov. 4, 1961 in Halifax, N.S. while Jim was in the Royal  Canadian Navy.

They moved to B.C. in 1967 with their oldest daughter, Heather, and their daughter, Belinda, was born in Vernon the same year.

Jim worked in the sawmill industry.

The couple moved to Lumby in 1972 and have lived there ever since.

Pat has become a valued member of the community through various community clubs, while Jim began working for his father in the construction business.

In 1985, Jim started a business known as Taxi Jim in the area and he continued to operate it for 21 years.

Jim and Pat invite friends to help them celebrate their anniversary Aug. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Old Age Pension Hall (Monashee 50+ Club), which is located at 1765 Glencaird St. in Lumby.
