DJs fade to neon at next 13th Floor event in Vernon

Neon Steve kicks off the season of DJs, producers coming to Vernon.

With January at an end, Vernon’s 13th Floor Entertainment is back and ready for another year of memorable shows.

After two very successful shows in December, including newly minted Juno nominee SonReal and internationally known DJ/producer Mat the Alien, 13th Floor starts out 2014 with what many consider a triple headliner.

“We kick off the year with another massive Okanagan event starring an all-star line up of DJs ready to pack the dance floor,” said Josh Brazier, with 13th Floor.

Headlining the event Saturday at Club 2929 is Victoria’s Neon Steve, who is quickly becoming one of the most talked about newcomers in the electronic music scene and is known for rocking parties alongside some of the industry’s biggest names.

“Neon Steve has a bright future ahead of him. If you still haven’t heard him play, you’re missing out on some serious talent” said Brazier. “When artists like Datsik, Downlink and Excision start remixing your tracks, you know you’ve done something right.”

Warming things up is DJ Czech, who hails from the Czech Republic.

“He is known for his unforgettable sounds and antics of what many would consider somewhat of a pioneer in the world of breaks,” said Brazier.

“Czech is an absolute riot, the guy loves what he does and there’s a reason he’s still so relevant after all these years in the game. He’s played all over the world and knows how to rock a party. If you’ve been into DJ scene for a lot of years, you know DJ Czech.”

Starting out the night is local fan favourite, and the founder of Bassbong Records, Dee Bass.

“He plays non-stop bangers and is guaranteed to have the dance floor busy early in the night,” said Brazier.

Also included in the lineup is Vancouver’s Blondtron, a DJ/producer and all-around party machine.

“Blondtron has become known for her ability to make music, have more fun than most people do, and twerk. If you aren’t familiar with this form of dance, you will be once Feb. 8 rolls around,” said Brazier.

Tickets to Saturday’s  show at Club 2929 are currently available at the Downtown Internet Lounge in Vernon. Cost is $10 pre-sale/student 19 and over, or $15 at the door.
