Downtown Vernon’s streets have an added liveliness to them this summer. Curbside LIVE, a street performers’ program, has been taking place Tuesday at lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The program, which has been a success running throughout July, will continue until the end of August.
“The busking program was introduced to bring entertainment to the streets of downtown Vernon and support the businesses staying open late on Fridays,” said Julie Melanson with the Downtown Vernon Association.
She encourages the public to grab an ice cream as they stroll through the streets and enjoy the performances, or take in the music as they dine out downtown.
“We have many talented musicians signed up for this program, and more,” said Melanson. “Busking can include all types of entertainment, and we’re happy to have artists and even a group of young jugglers in our line-up.
“This year we introduced the Curbside LIVE street performers to Tuesdays at lunch as well.”
The DVA has organized entertainment four days of the week. Wednesdays at lunch is Jammin’ in Justice for people to enjoy their lunch outside to music, in Justice Park from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is also the ever popular Civic Sounds Thursday night. Melanson adds that Civic Sounds has been so popular this summer the DVA added an extra evening to the line-up. On Aug. 29 Mace will be playing following Cod Gone Wild on Aug. 22.
