All ages and abilities are welcome to join the North Okanagan Coalition for Active Transportation tonight as it begins six weeks of Wednesday rides starting at 6 p.m. sharp.

This family fun ride is for all ages and abilities designed to introduce active families to each other and provide an opportunity to meet new friends of similar ages and abilities. There is no fee, and all that’s required is a cycling helmet and a reliable bicycle

“The goal of NOCAT is to see more people walking and riding bicycles more often by encouraging citizens to support infrastructure development that will enhance safe and active transportation and connect to the upcoming Okanagan Rail Trail,” said Bruce Mol, with the organization.

The first two of the six rides begins at the People Place, 3402-27th Ave., Vernon. Participants are asked to park on the west side of the building. Tonight’s route follows the 25th Avenue multi-use trail west to Kin Beach, but Mol said participants are encouraged to go only as far as they or their family are capable of.
