At this time of year, many people are looking for alternative ideas that will have meaning, both for the giver and the receiver.
The Give A Lasting Gift Society is hosting its second annual Alternative Gift Fair on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Schubert Centre in Vernon, 3505-30 Ave.
“The fair allows individuals to purchase holiday gifts with a twist, and features local and international charities and offers shoppers a chance to support the important work that they do while crossing off their holiday shopping to-do list,” said Melanie Abbott, with the society.
Shoppers attending the fair are provided a “shopping list” of potential donations that provide a description of where their donations are utilized. Representatives from each charity will be on hand so shoppers have the opportunity to learn more about how their donations help.
The Give A Lasting Gift Society will collect all donations on the charity’s behalf and shoppers receive a donation voucher and holiday card to provide to the recipient of their gift. Tax receipts will be mailed to the shopper from most charitable organizations. For more information go to www.GiveALastingGift.com
