Global Action goes to China

Students in the Global Action program at Vernon secondary school will have the chance to travel to rural China in 2016

Students in the Global Action program at Vernon secondary school have made four volunteer trips through Me to We and Free the Children.

Teacher Susan Egan has guided her students to three volunteering trips in Africa and one to India. In spring 2016, Egan will be joined by teacher Cliff Acob as the two take students to rural China.

“Participants will explore the incredible sights of China, including the Great Wall — one of the wonders of the world — the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and volunteer in a rural village teaching English to children and working on a school building project,” said Egan, adding that students will also be able to take tai chi and Mandarin lessons and will earn four credits for Global Action 11/12.

Friday, Nov. 7 is the deadline to sign up for this life-changing opportunity. For more information, contact Egan at sedan@sd22.bc.ca or Acob at carob@sd22.bc.ca
