Halina Harmonix takes to stage

Devon Muhlert's choir takes musical lovers on "an armchair journey," with musical guest Mason Anderson on guitar.

The Halina Harmonix have been traveling — virtually, that is.

Their spring concert theme is Armchair Traveller, which helps you board a magical train that takes you in song to Atlantic Canada, the Arctic and other places.  A Sunday performance will include Mason Anderson on the guitar.

“I’m always looking for ways to combine people’s talents,” said Devon Muhlert, choir director.

Muhlert saw the potential of having Mason’s electric guitar provide accompaniment and rhythm for one of the choir’s “time-traveling” songs, Sh’Boom.

The magical train ride is a reference to Muhlert’s song, Roll On, Ride them Rails, which is also a bit of a timeline of Canadian history.

After April, the Halina Harmonix will take a hiatus until Sept. 12, when they look forward to greeting both new members and continuing ones.

Armchair Traveller takes place Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Halina Centre in the Vernon Recreation Complex.

Admission to the concert is by donation. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
