Hoshi needs community’s help

A garage sale on Aug. 17 and 18 benefits a beloved Labrador who is suffering from osteoarthritis

At just four-years-old, Hoshi, a black lab, is severely crippled with osteoarthritis – a painful condition in both shoulders, spine, pelvis and hips.

To help the young dog gain some freedom and mobility, his owner is hosting a fundraising garage sale this weekend to buy Hoshi a wheelchair.

“My beloved baby Hoshi is desperately in need of a wheelchair,” said Jungyon Son of her fur baby.

“He was born with this  condition and is getting worse and worse each year, every step causing him searing pain. He is the love and light of my world.”

The fundraiser will take place Saturday and Sunday at 3102-15th Ave. (near the hospital), starting at 8 a.m. each day.

Son is also seeking donations of items for the garage sale and for those who would like to help but can’t make it out to the sale, financial contributions are also welcomed. Anyone with donations can call 250-307-7442.

In order to purchase the chair, Hoshi’s mom needs to raise $1,630.

“Thank you everyone for helping my precious baby, Hoshi, to get his wheelchair.”

The cause has touched Vernon resident Kayla MacGillivray, who stepped up to lend a hand after hearing about Hoshi.

“I saw a flyer in a book store,” said MacGillivray, of how she first learned about the urgent need and is now helping Son with the garage sale.

“After the garage sale this weekend we are planning to go out and ask for support from local businesses and hopefully in doing so we can raise enough for Hoshi,” said MacGillivray.
