Those interested in local plants and their uses are welcome to attend a guided walk with local wilderness guide Mikaela Cannon at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre Sept. 24.
Participants will learn about what plants are used for, how to prepare them for food and medicine, and how they taste.
Cannon is an avid nature lover and has travelled the world learning about plants and how to use them for medicine, food and art.
Her passion extends to teaching people how to prepare common weeds for dinner.
Last year, she researched how the northern Swedish people (the Sami) use plants, and now she is back in the Okanagan researching about plants in the region.
Her guided walk takes place from 9 a.m. to noon. Dress depending on the weather. Cost is $5 per person.
