Huria Schulte brings her voice journey workshop to the North Okanagan Saturday.
“This workshop is for everyone who has a voice. The voice is the body and the body is the voice. Whether they use their voice for teaching, singing, speaking or in everyday life, people can find creativity and authenticity through the voice,” said Schulte, a voice coach, designated Linklater voice teacher with international experience as an actress and naturopath.
Schulte, who is a Canadian and was raised in Germany and studied theatre there, found that there were many different ways to help to heal and enhance her voice when she lost it when on stage. She received her designation as a Linklater voice teacher from Kristin Linklater, who developed the method in London, England.
“The method uses many ways of using the voice so that everyone can find what is best for them. I was drawn to different experiences with the voice and how it affects and is affected by the body and we can find the freedom to be ourselves through the voice. This emphasizes and develops creativity in the arts and all areas of expression. People tell me how much they enjoy the workshops and that they have never experienced anything like it,” she said.
“I love working in the outdoor atmosphere. It brings another dimension to the workshop.”
Schulte has taught a number of workshops on different aspects of the voice for groups and individuals.
She will resume her schedule in the fall.
