Every year the Lake Country Art Gallery opens the doors of its gallery space to its members as a way to further support, engage and celebrate their artistic achievements.

This year is no exception as the gallery gets ready to show the work of its members, starting Wednesday, at the month-long exhibition.

The gallery has a membership of approximately 150 individuals whose contributions help support gallery programming, including the annual member’s show.

“We are really blessed by the strength of the support of our members and volunteers”, said LCAG manager Petrina McNeill. “It’s really quite incredible that we have so many talented artists among our membership. Over the last two years, we’ve had an overwhelming response to our members’ show. We can’t wait to see what turns up this year.”

“Our members and volunteers give so much to the gallery. I am constantly amazed at all the endeavours our members are up to in and out of their studios”, added LCAG curator Katie Brennan. “That they still have time support the gallery the way they do is outstanding.”

Accompanying the members’ exhibition will the LCAG’s second installment of a pub-styled Trivia Night, March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Entry is $10 per person and those interested in participating can bring or join a team. Brennan will test every team’s knowledge of art, culture and much more. Snacks and a cash bar will be available and all funds will go to support the gallery.

On March 15 from 2 to 4:30 p.m., the gallery will be offering a workshop with Lynda Miller on how to photograph your artwork.

“This is a great workshop for any artist who wants to learn how to accurately photo document their work for submission to galleries, clients, websites, as well as family and friends,” said Brennan.

The workshop is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Participants are asked to bring their camera and a piece of artwork to photograph.

Gallery members with work in the members’ exhibition are welcome to use their piece in the exhibition to photograph.
