A look through Jordan McGrath’s camera lens shows a different angle of the landscape.

Whenever he clicks the shutter button, McGrath says he experiences a rush of excitement, knowing he has used his knowledge and experience to create art.

McGrath will show his photographic art, some on canvas, some framed, for the month of February at Nadine’s Fine Arts and Frames in downtown Vernon.

“This is Jordan’s first collective art show and we’re really excited to have him as artist of the month,” said gallery owner Nadine Wilson, who is also an art instructor. “He is creative and looking forward to growing his business.”

McGrath started taking painting classes with Wilson when he was nine years old, and later graduated to her adult evening classes. He moved into photography a few years ago and has since been adding to his portfolio with still, portrait and wedding photography.

However, the landscape is his true passion.

“My goal is to create works of art that are unique, make an impact and stir emotions,” he said. “I want to create images that push the boundaries of photography using editing software to create photos that really freeze the moment in which that photo was taken, and to draw out the colours and light that my camera may not be able to capture at the time it was taken,” he said.

McGrath’s work will be on exhibit starting Wednesday. An open house will be hosted at Nadine’s, 3101 31st Ave., Feb. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
