Seniors’ program needs volunteers

The Family Resource centre begins its training session for volunteers to work with seniors in a variety of situations

If you’ve got some time to spare and you enjoy working with seniors, the Family Resource Centre could use your help.

As a senior support volunteer you will help senior clients who are experiencing social isolation, depression and/or dementia by doing home visits, taking clients out on social activities and participating in group activities.

If you are interested in utilizing your valuable life experiences and people skills in a rewarding volunteer position and can commit to a training program, the Family Resource Centre needs you.

Training takes place over eight sessions — Wednesday and Thursday mornings — Oct. 3 to 25.

For further information and details on this program, or to download the application, please visit the centre’s web site at www.vernonfrc.ca or call Karen at 250-545-3390, extension 215.  This program welcomes the participation of both men and women.
