Show features horses of all shapes and sizes

May 25 brings the inaugural W.A.M. (Welsh, Arabian and Morgan) Pot 'O Gold Horse Show to Armstrong

Come one, come all to the Armstrong Fairgrounds May 25 and see beautiful horses, all shapes and sizes, taking part in the inaugural W.A.M. Pot o’ Gold Horse Show.

W.A.M. stands for Welsh, Arabian, and Morgan, and the event is co-hosted by three local clubs wanting to bring attention to their specific breed: the BC Welsh Pony & Cob Association, the BC Interior Arabian Horse Association, and the BC Interior Morgan Horse Club.

“The three breeds have one thing in common — a commanding presence,” said Nancy Roman, one of the organizers. “They are lovely to watch and their manes and tails fly in the wind; they are beauty in action.”

This event also welcomes other horse breeds in various sizes to participate, including miniatures, ponies, quarter horses, paint horses, Appaloosas, maybe a draft horse, a mule or donkey. Watch them all compete in Halter classes, Showmanship, Driving, English and Western Performance classes, Trail course, Leadline, Green horse/rider, and gymkhana games.

The show starts at 9 a.m. and runs all day. Admission is free and everyone is invited to come by and watch the horses compete and play. There is a food concession on site and the majority of events are in the Agriplex under cover; the trail and gymkhana are outdoors.

“Please join us and see why we all love to show (off) our horses!”
