Take a peek into your Irish and Scottish ancestry

Chris Paton will help those with an interest in exploring their heritage, April 27 hosted by Vernon & Dist. Family History Society

Originally from Northern Ireland, but with both Scottish and Irish roots, Chris Paton wants to help others explore their own ancestry.

Paton will be in Vernon April 27 when the Vernon & District Heritage Society hosts a Scottish and Irish Heritage Research Seminar.

Paton holds a post-graduate diploma in genealogical studies and works as a professional genealogist, running the Scotland’s Greatest Story research service. Married, with two sons, he lives in Largs, North Ayrshire.

In the seminar, Paton will cover a number of topics, including The Godly Commonwealth: Discover Scottish Church Records; Irish Resources Online; Understanding Scottish Civil Registration; and Discover Scottish Land Records.

The seminar takes place April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Army Navy and Airforce hall, 2500-46th Ave.,Vernon. Registration cost is $55 and includes all lectures, a light lunch and coffee breaks.
