The 55+ BC Games is inviting any residents 55 years of age and older to participate in this year’s games to be held in Coquitlam Sept. 20 to 24.

There are 25 sporting events in all, including golf, tennis, bridge, slo-pitch, cycling, swimming, bowling, ice curling, track, badminton, and pickleball.

More than 3,200 seniors participated in the games last year.

The 55+ BC Games were started in Vernon in 1988 and are held in late summer each year to promote sport, recreation, and culture.

Next year, the games will once again be hosted in Vernon, Sept. 12 to 16, in celebration of the event’s 30th anniversary.

Besides participants, more than 1,500 volunteers will be needed to host the event.

For more information on this year’s or next year’s event, call zone 5 sport coordinator Marsha at 250-558-1555 or visit www.55plusgames.ca.

Posters are also up at the Vernon Recreation Centre as well as at the Halina and Schubert centres.

Registration for this year’s games must be completed by June 16.
