Rising stars from The National Ballet of Canada will be joining Ballet Kelowna and an all-Canadian lineup of talent in a performance of live music and dance.
Ballet Kelowna is closing its 2015-16 season with its performance of Renaissance, April 29 and 30 at the Kelowna Community Theatre and May 1 at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver.
“It is such a privilege, and rare opportunity to have assembled some of our country’s finest artists for what promises to be a truly unforgettable celebration of the arts,” said Simone Orlando, Ballet Kelowna’s artistic director and CEO.
“The extreme athleticism and depth of emotion of Ballet Kelowna’s company of artists will be on full display in a series of new and remounted works.”
Besides Orlando, works have been created by celebrated choreographers Heather Myers (former dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theatre), James Kudelk (former artistic director with the National Ballet of Canada), and John Alleyne (former artistic director of Ballet BC).
Two all-stars from The National Ballet of Canada, Hannah Fischer and Ethan Watts, will join the Ballet Kelowna dancers in the performances.
Also taking part is Toronto’s Continuum Contemporary Music ensemble, who will provide live accompaniment for all works, performing famous early music compositions from the Renaissance period, along with newly commissioned works by Jocelyn Morlock and Michael Oesterle, inspired by early music masters Henry Purcell and Marin Marais.
