Antonio Vivaldi may have written about the four seasons in his most famous composition, but Vernon singer- songwriter-guitarist Betty Johnson is about top that with her new album when she holds a release concert at Pottery Road Studio Saturday, Nov. 5.

“Seasons are like music; they are the vibrations of life. This unique program of original music and poetry will express a moment from each season,” said Johnson, who will perform four songs from each season from her new album, which includes a bonus track called Season Five.

“I’ve spent the past few months since May writing, singing, playing music and recording at LakeStudio in Kelowna with the award winning Andrew Smith. Now it’s time to get ready to sing and play for the people.”

Joining Johnson at the release will be Smith, also a renowned tap-style guitarist, and well-known Vernon guitarist Neil Fraser.

In addition, Vernon’s own unofficial poet laureate, novelist John Lent will read prose poetry excerpts reflecting the seasons from his new manuscript, Matins, while Smith’s son, Zach, will be providing interludes.

“It will be like a radio show with interludes in between the seasons,” said Johnson. “These interludes are lovely, and have been written by Zach.”

CDs will soon be available at the Bean Scene coffee house, with 25 per cent of each copy sold going to Rosie, the Bean Scene’s adopted elephant.

The Nov. 5 concert at Pottery Road Yoga Studio E,  964 Pottery Rd. begins at 8 p.m., with doors at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 and reservations can be made by calling or texting Sherrie Erickson at 250-260 0878.
