Women’s Wisdom/Women’s Healing is a course designed to encourage women of all ages to look beyond the physical realities of their lives, into the spiritual and meta-physical, to be more open to transcending the challenges and difficulties of life.

Longtime Armstrong resident Dorian Kohl will offer the course starting next month, combining meditation, the gentle stretches of Hatha yoga, singing sacred wisdom songs and deep relaxation.

“Wether our challenges occur through illness, loss, stress or fear, we can look towards improving ourselves and our state of consciousness through dedication of some sacred/self-care time each day,” said Kohl.

Kohl has found that women respond to this course both on an individual and collective basis.

“Many women express to me that they need to attend classes in order to find the self-discipline necessary to get ‘back on track,’ especially following a major holiday such as Christmas, when routine goes sideways, and health often suffers,” she said.

An instructor of yoga and the healing arts for 35 years, Kohl brings the teachings of the medicine wheel (the sacred circle of life) into her classes. She is a workshop leader of Woman Alive workshops at the George Ryga Centre in Summerland, as well as at the Wise Woman Weekend workshops in Naramata and the Goddess Connection workshops.

Kohl’s recent photographic retrospective at Gallery Vertigo in Vernon was a reflection of a successful career as an international model and actress. She is a mother of three children and grandmother to three granddaughters, all living in Vancouver.

Women’s Wisdom/Women’s Healing takes place Feb. 2 to March 16, Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Zion United Church Hall in Armstrong.

The course cost is $115, and all ages of women are welcome, and should pre-register with Kohl by calling 250-546-9886, as this is not a drop-in class.
