Workshop will guide you to find your voice

Huria Schulte is a certified Linklater Voice Teacher who has brought her skills to Vernon

In a peaceful, rural setting, Huria Schulte wants to help people to find their voice.

The voice teacher, actress, naturopath and designated Linklater Voice teacher is offering two workshops this month at The Equine Connection in Vernon.

The first “Jolly and Empowering Voice Exploration in Nature” workshop takes place May 6 from 9 a.m. to noon and will give participants the chance to pay attention to their voice while embarking on a new adventure.

“Get a taste of your voice and your creative expression,” said Schulte. “Inspired by the beautiful environment of the outdoors and nature, I will lead you through an exploration of your breath, vibrational sounds and your voice in a playful and uplifting way.

“We will paint, write and simply have fun with our wonderful instrument voice. The objective is not to judge the efficiency of our voice but to feel with all our senses, the nuances of our vibrational sounds and to experience our voice in new and unexpected ways.”

The half-day workshop is $75 and pre-registration is required by May 2.

Schulte will offer a two-day voice workshop May 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m to 5 p.m., both days. Book by the end of today and the cost is $250, after that it’s $300, with registration required by May 20.

“In this workshop, our voice journey will literally lead us to different places in the outdoors and will allow us to explore our vocal expression in nature,” she said. “We will experience a deepening of the playful and less conventional aspects to voice through a wide range of voice approaches and elements of the Linklater Voice Method.

“With the support of nature, ease and fun we will find freedom and empowerment in our vocal expression.”

To register for either workshop, call 250-308-5207 or email huria.schulte@gmail.com. Schulte is also listed at healingartsfinder.ca
