Beaches have reopened along the southeast arm of Okanagan Lake in Vernon.
The City of Vernon lifted a swimming advisory Friday afternoon, Aug. 9. The advisory was put in place along the lake from Kin Beach to Paddlewheel Park Tuesday, Aug. 6, due to a broken sewer line.
The advisory was a precautionary measure, as the city said the sewer line break presented the possibility of poor water quality.
The city said results from water quality testing at Paddlewheel, Kin and Lakeshore beaches indicate bacterial levels are within the acceptable range set out in the Guidelines for Canadian Recreational Water Quality.
This was the second time the beaches were closed due to a broken sewer line in recent weeks. A swimming advisory was put in place July 6 and rescinded July 9 following sewer line repairs.
