A former Vernon doctor was taken into custody Thursday after adding two more sexual assault guilty pleas to his name.

Peter Inkpen appeared in Vernon provincial court June 6, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

Inkpen previously pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault in February.

On Thursday Inkpen's undertaking was cancelled by his consent and he was taken into custody, and a detention order was made by the court, said Damienne Darby, communications counsel for the BC Prosecution Service.

A publication ban prohibits the sharing of details in the case that may identify the victims.

Inkpen was previously arrested on July 14, 2022 after a woman reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted by her physician.

Although he was taken into custody, Inkpen has not yet received his sentence for the sexual assault convictions. His next court appearance on these charges is June 10 to schedule a date for a sentencing hearing.
