A new bank could be coming to the village.
With residents losing their last financial institution with the closure of Scotiabank in September 2024, the Lumby & District Chamber of Commerce is looking at other options
“We recognized the situation is huge loss for the community, businesses and the overall economic growth in the future,” the chamber said.
“To address this issue, we are taking proactive measures to build a business case by reaching out to various financial institutions and starting conversations with them about opening a branch in Lumby.”
But in order for that to happen, the chamber is looking for residents to fill out a short survey.
“We need your help to make this happen. These institutions have asked us to gather data from the community and businesses. By taking this brief survey, you can aid us in our goal of relocating a financial institution to our community!”
Questions mainly ask a person’s level of banking activity and if they would switch to a new bank if it opened in Lumby.
There is a Google Docs form available through the Lumby & District Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
