UPDATE: Boil water notice rescinded in Vernon

Precautionary notice issued for Apollo Road ad Longacre Drive residents

UPDATE March 26:

A precautionary boil water notice for some Vernon residents lasted less than a week.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has rescinded to notice for Longacre Drive and Apollo Road residents.

"Bacterial testing results have come back clear and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system."

ORIGINAL March 20:

Longacre Drive and Apollo Road residents are advised to boil their water.

In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice (BWN) Thursday, March 20 until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe.

Breaks in the water main in this area resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity in the area.

As a result, the RDNO is issuing a BWN to affected areas, repairing and flushing the water main, as well as sampling the water main to ensure the continued safety of the water system. Crews are currently on-site repairing the break.

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air.

"Please run cold water until the water has cleared. An outside tap(s) is preferred," the RDNO advises.

"The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers in the affected area should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth."

Updates will be posted to www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices). You can also subscribe to receive email updates at www.rdno.ca/subscribe.

When the notice is rescinded, it will be posted on the RDNO website and sent to email subscribers.
