UPDATE: 2 new wildfires spotted in North Okanagan

Two new wildfires are burning in a rural area north east of Mabel Lake.

UPDATE July 25:

A second wildfire has been spotted in a rural area north east of Mabel Lake.

The Hound Creek blaze is an estimated .5 hectares and discovered Thursday, July 25.

It is being held, according to BC Wildfire Service.

It is near Tsuis Creek and west of another spot-size fire, discovered July 22. That .009 blaze remains out of control.

ORIGINAL July 24:

While the exact location hasn't been pinpointed, a new fire has been discovered north east of Mabel Lake.

It is .009 hectares and suspected to be lightning caused, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

It is in the vicinity of the Dry Creek wildfire area restriction in the Central Kootenays.

The fire was discovered on Monday, July 22 but the location has yet to be determined.
