The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have determined there was no criminality in the death of a woman whose body was found inside a Vernon home.

Police began investigating after the deceased woman was found inside a residence in the 5500 block of Heritage Drive around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28.

“A full and comprehensive investigation was conducted by the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit,” media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said Wednesday. “As a result of that investigation, no evidence was found to suggest any criminality was involved in her death.”

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP offered their “sincerest condolences” to the family and friends of the deceased.

“Out of respect for privacy, no additional information will be released,” Terleski said.

Days after the death, when police tape was set up around the property, tributes and flowers were laid in front of the home, with one reading: “Justice for KAylee.”

Family and friends of Kaylee Bannister, 32, posted on social media tributes to the young mother.
