There’s a sad ending to the search for a missing man last seen in Vernon.

Andy Raeber posted on his Facebook page Friday, Jan. 5, that his missing son, Jayce McDermid, had died.

McDermid, 47, was last seen in Vernon Sunday, Nov. 24, in his parents’ Royal Expedition motorhome, named Lady May which was written on the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.

“Our families would like to thank everyone who read and shared the post regarding his missing whereabouts,” said Raeber. “Jayce will be remembered by his love, kindness, sense of humour, and magic.”

Chase RCMP confirmed on Friday that McDermid, reported missing on Dec. 14, had been located deceased.

“The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Cpl. James Grandy, district advisory NCO – media relations for the RCMP’s Southeast District.

No further information will be provided at this time.
