A washout has closed a portion of a popular trail.
“The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) Parks Department was recently made aware of a recent slough (washout) on the BX Creek Trail near the halfway point between Star Road and Tillicum Road, rendering the trail unpassable for hikers,” said Ian Wilson, RDNO community services general manager.
“An assessment of the area is being conducted to determine if the trail can be reconstructed within the RDNO right of way; however, the closure is expected to remain in place for some time.”
The closure will allow for re-assessment of the slope post-freshet.
Closure signage has been posted at the Star Road and Tillicum Road trailheads, as well as above and below the slide area.
The remainder of the trail above and below the closure remains open for public use.
“We kindly request that the public avoid the closure area and remind them that the area adjacent to the closure is private property.”
