A third of the structures in Jasper, Alta., were razed by a devastating wildfire roughly a month ago, leaving residents of the Rocky Mountain town to sift through the rubble, salvaging what they can.

Those Jasper residents, recently cleared to return home with the wildfire held at bay, may feel alone as they examine the shell of their former community.

But a Vernon event aims to ease that feeling by generating tangible support from afar.

SilverStar Brewing Co. on 30th Avenue, formerly Marten Brewing, is hosting a Jasper Relief Concert Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will unite musicians and supporters from across the region to support the recovery efforts going on in Jasper.

To further support the Jasper community in the wake of significant evacuations and losses, the Banff Canmore Foundation will match every dollar donated at the event, ensuring attendees' contributions have double the impact.

The concert will feature a diverse lineup of artists all donating their time for the cause. Performers include Foxtooth, Clay Cole, Orvald Wayne, Brianna Lizotte, Jed and the Valentine, $elfimploy, King Kelson, House of Todd, Theo Hansen and Crippled Wheel, with some exciting solo performances at the event.

Attendees will have the chance to win or bid on various local prize packs, including hotel stays, spa and golf packages through raffles and silent auctions.

"The Okanagan is no stranger to the devastation brought by wildfires. Time and again, it’s the support and unity within our communities that have seen us through.” said event organizer Karina Leveque. “This concert is a testament to the power of our collective strength and compassion. With every ticket, and every donation, we’re not just helping to rebuild homes but also spirits. Jasper has endured so much loss - this event is our way of wrapping our arms around our neighbours in Jasper, showing them they're not facing this alone."

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with music, food, beverages and community spirit. Tickets are available by donation at the door, granting entry and a raffle ticket to take part in the draws. For those looking for a more comprehensive experience, a $35 premium package is also available, which can be purchased online or at the door. The package includes admission, the choice of any one beer on tap, a burger, fries or salad and a raffle ticket.

"In light of the wildfire that has deeply affected our neighbours, this event is our call to arms. It's an opportunity for us to stand with Jasper, offering our support through what we know best — music and community,” said Morgan Guyon, co-organizer. ”Each artist on our lineup is generously donating their time to help our friends in Jasper. Their generosity is a beacon of hope and solidarity."

All proceeds will directly benefit the Jasper Community Team Society in partnership with the Banff Canmore Foundation to support those affected by the wildfire.
