A Vernon fertilizer manufacturer has been fined for failing to comply with a WorkSafeBC order.
BlueSky Organics was fined $24,560 on March 20.
The penalty notice says the fine was issued after the company did not comply with a WorkSafeBC order despite multiple follow-up communications from the government agency.
While short on details, The penalty notice says only the order was related to a “worker’s prohibited action complaint.”
WorkSafeBC did not say what is meant by the worker’s prohibited action complaint. It did not provide details as to when the violation occurred, or what the violation was about.
“The firm failed to comply with a WorkSafeBC order,” the notice states.
WorkSafeBC attended BlueSky’s workplace and issued the order.
The agency notes that penalties are published online as a “deterrent,” and to highlight the importance of making workplaces safe.
Fines are imposed on employers for health and safety violations of the Workers Compensation Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and WorkSafeBC orders, according to the agency.
